Has anyone ever told you...?

I was in the process of telling a story (about bowling, in case you were dying to know) to one of my co-workers yesterday the same way I guess I always do-- I'm flailing my arms, I'm taking a breath about once every 30 seconds, I'm a few decibels louder than a death metal concert taking place on top of a departing jet-- I'm into it. (It is bowling, after all.) Anyway. While in the midst of a gasp for air, I was shocked to hear my co-worker interject, "Has anyone ever told you that you talk like you're on speed?" Um, no, as a matter of fact, no one had; it's just one of my many talents, I guess. He continued, speculating that I must not be as I had just mentioned that I was bowling with Campus for Christ, and that made me happy. Although the Christian stereotype is the Bible-toting, stick-up-their-butt neighbour sporting a collared shirt and khakis and a slicked-back hairdo named Peter, I'm glad, albeit a bit surprised, that it's still intact. It's better than the hypocritical Pete-gets-high-with-me-but-still-has-to-make-it-to-church-in-the-morning view which I figured we projected. Basically, this was an encouragement to me and, if it applies, I hope it is to you too.
As for my storytelling idiosyncrasies-- well, who am I kidding? I'm 100% Pete.

Why Peter? It makes me think of King Peter from the Chronicles.
